Urea does not go down without a fight. Or time. Any tips on how to get rid or considerably lessen the foul odors that organic chemistry labs are infamous for?

What are the “underlying concepts” of organic chemistry that make everything make sense? I always hear people commenting that there are a handful of principles that can be applied to (and used to solve) all the various types of problems you encounter in organic chemistry, but no one has ever explained what they are. So, what are they? Thanks!

Next year, I will take organic chemistry. Can anyone recommend any good books to use to study organic chemistry and help me get a basic understanding of it before I take the class?
